Electronic Colloquium on Design Thinking Research

What We Do and Why:

The Electronic Colloquium on Design Thinking Research is a forum for the rapid and widespread exchange of ideas, methods, and results in Design Thinking Research. The forum utilizes electronic media to facilitate scientific communication and discussions. ECDTR invites submissions of papers, short notes, and surveys.

Automatic and domain-agnostic creativity measurements on digital human traces

Authors: Kim-Pascal Borchart

Abstract: Most creativity studies assess only a limited number of people and creative behaviors. Traditional creativity assessments require evaluations by human expert judges, rendering assessments of creative behavior time-intensive and subjective. In my master’s thesis, I apply definitions of creativity to digital behavior traces, to make algorithmic evaluations possible. I introduce C-Tracer,…

The scope

The primary objective of Design Thinking Research and ECDTR is to comprehend the reasons behind the accomplishments and setbacks of Design Thinking in the past, and to explore ways of advancing and strengthening this methodology in the future.

ECDTR topics include research and development of tools for Design Thinking (both digital and analogous), studies on communication dynamics within creative teams (whether in-person or remote), identification of indicators for innovation potential and other relevant metrics, effective communication of ideas, Design Thinking theory, measures of creative performance, process management improvements in Design Thinking, and studies on the implementation of Design Thinking practices in organizational or educational settings.

This list of topics is not exhaustive. We welcome studies in other areas related to Design Thinking, such as creativity, innovation, and collaboration, as well as interdisciplinary research exploring the intersections of Design Thinking with other fields.
